Usually, jetties are made of wood, but in this case a jetty is built with a structure of steel girders and galvanised gratings. This jetty has minimal maintenance costs and a guaranteed longer lifespan than wood. The growth of moss and green deposits is minimal and the gratings give less chance of slipperiness in case of black ice or snow. The gratings are also easy to walk on with bare feet, as small mesh 22x22 was chosen to minimise pressure on the foot surface.
