On Scheveningen beach, there is a special grating which is a variant of the "Dejo Vlonder Rooster (DVR)". This grating is laid just like a concrete slab and provides a beautiful and natural transition from beach to land. Preventing sand drift was an important condition when designing this part of the beach. Using only concrete slabs would give an unnatural and industrial look. The unique combination of steel, wood and concrete create a playful interplay of lines with a more natural look.
