Circular construction Energy campus

The building stands on the former Schenkenschans landfill in Leeuwarden. This landfill for construction and demolition waste was closed in 1998 and 'wrapped up' by the province of Friesland. Despite problems with building a foundation on such a site, innovative techniques succeeded in constructing something very special here: a unique building to further realise the energy transition. Renewable bio-based materials and certified wood from local sources were used in the construction of this gas-free and demountable building. The interior is also sustainable, with furniture made of PET bottles, for example. Dejo supplied Cradle-to-Cradle certified facade gratings, platform gratings, deck gratings and stairs for this building.
